This Agreement is between:

What you will receive with your puppy:

Putting a non-refundable deposit on a puppy that isn’t ready to go.
We do not take deposits for puppies that have not been born. However we do ask for a deposit before the puppy is due to go home. The reason for this is to reserve your puppy. If we are in a situation that we cannot provide you with a puppy, then your deposit is fully refundable. However if you decide not to take a puppy, then your deposit is non-refundable. The reason for this is that if you change your mind, we will have to find another home for the puppy. This would have to be done urgently, as the older a puppy gets the harder it is to find a quality home for it. Therefore please consider carefully, the purchase of your puppy.
Your deposit of
£150 .00 will need to be paid when you have picked your puppy. This deposit will be deducted from the total price of the puppy. A receipt will be given for the deposit paid. Please be advised that we only accept cash.

Purchasing a puppy that’s ready to go.
Full payment for the puppy is expected on the date that you will be collecting your puppy. Your date of collection is on………………………………... The amount that will be due on this date will be

There is an excess payable on claims you should also be aware of. It is strongly advised that some other form of insurance is continued with after this time. This needs to be organised in advance, do not wait until the Petplan Policy has expired!!!
2. Although the puppy is covered for the first 4 weeks, please ensure you take the puppy to your Vet for a Vet check within 7 days after purchase. Should your Vet find anything wrong with your puppy you must contact us IMMEDIATELY. As the breeder's of this puppy, we reserve the right to have a second opinion, should that puppy be found to have a significant health defect.
3. The buyer is purchasing the puppy as a house pet and companion, not a breeding dog. The buyer will provide the puppy with a safe, comfortable home, vaccinations and veterinary care as needed, the attention a house pet would customarily receive and proper grooming.
4. We, the breeder's, asks that the buyer contacts us in the first instance to organise appropriate re-homing should the buyer no longer be able to keep the puppy. Buyer will not take or send the puppy to the Dogs Home, RSPCA, or any “Kill Shelter”. Buyer will not sell or give the puppy to a laboratory or any person dealing with or representing a laboratory that uses animals for testing of products and/or experimentation of any kind. Buyer will not knowingly give or sell the puppy to any individual involved with dog fighting. If the buyer is unable to keep the puppy, they should contact us, the breeders immediately for help re-homing the puppy. If we, the breeder's are unable to take back the puppy, we will do everything we can, possible to assist the buyer to re-home the puppy and a decision will be made jointly as to how best to facilitate this.
Please be aware that a refund for change in buyer’s circumstances, which results in the buyer being unable to continue to give the puppy a loving home, is not possible.

Health Guarantee
Janikastco Staffordshire Bull Terriers

The following stipulations constitute the Janikastco Staffordshire Bull Terriers health guarantee:

Health Testing:
Janikastco Staffordshire Bull Terriers are tested for the following conditions:
L2-HGA
L2-HGA (L2-Hydroxyglutaric Aciduria) in Staffordshire Bull Terriers is a neurometabolic disorder characterised by elevated levels of L2- Hydroxyglutaric Acid in urine, plasma and cerebrospinal fluid.
L2-HGA affects the central nervous system, with clinical signs usually apparent between 6 months and 1 year (although they can appear later). Symptoms include epileptic seizures, “wobbly gait”, tremors, muscle stiffness as a result of exercise or excitement and altered behaviour.
The mutation or change to the structure of the gene, probably occurred spontaneously in a single dog, but once in the population, it has been inherited from generation to generation, like any other gene. The disorder shows an autosomal recessive mode of inheritance: Two copies of the defective gene (one inherited from each parent) have to be present for a dog to be affected by the disease. Individuals with 1 copy of the defective gene and 1 copy of the normal gene - called carriers - show no symptoms but can pass the defective gene onto their offspring. When two apparently healthy carriers are crossed, 25% (on average) of the offspring will be affected by the disease, 25% will be clear and the remaining 50% will themselves be carriers.
The Animal Health Trust has recently identified the mutation responsible for the disease. Using the information from this research, they have developed a DNA test for the disease. This test not only diagnoses dogs affected with the disease, but can also detect those dogs which are carriers, displaying no symptoms of the disease, but able to produce affected pups. Carriers could not be detected by the tests previously available, which involved a blood or urine test detecting elevated levels of L2-Hydroxyglutarate or magnetic resonance imaging. Under most circumstances, there will be a much greater number of carriers than affected animals in a population, since they represent a hidden reservoir of the disease that can produce affected dogs at any time.
When breeders submit their dogs blood to be tested they receive a certificate which contains results identifying their dog as belonging to 1 of 3 categories:
Clear: The dog has 2 copies of the normal gene and will neither develop L2-HGA, nor pass a copy of the L2-HGA gene to any of its offspring.
Carrier: The dog has 1 copy of the normal gene and 1 copy of the mutant gene that causes L2-HGA but will pass on the L2-HGA gene to 50% (on average) to its offspring.
Affected: The dog has 2 copies of the L2-HGA mutation and is affected with L2-HGA. It will develop L2-HGA at some stage during its lifetime, assuming it lives to an appropriate age.
Carriers can still be bred to clear dogs. On average 50% of such a litter will be clear and 50% carriers, there can be no affected produced from such a mating. Pups, which will be used for breeding, can themselves be DNA tested to determine whether they are clear or carrier.

Sire:
……………………………………………………………………. Is L2-HGA - Clear
Dam:
…………………………………………………………………. Is L2-HGA - Clear

These results mean that your Janikastco Staffordshire Bull Terrier can not develop L2-HGA

There are 2 hereditary eye conditions known to the breed: HC (Hereditary Cataract) and PHPV (Persistent Hyperplastic Primary Vitreous)
HC (Hereditary Cataract)
HC is inherited by an autosomal recessive path, that is to say both parents must be carriers of the defective gene, which causes the condition to produce affected offspring. As HC is a progressive condition, puppies will not be born with cataracts, these will start to develop at a more juvenile stage and will continue to progress until the dog is totally blind. As the condition is bi-lateral, both eyes will be affected equally.

Sire:
……………………………………………………………….. Is HC Clear, by genetic test.
Dam:
………………………………………………………………….. Is HC Clear, by genetic test.

This means that your Janikastco Staffordshire Bull Terrier cannot develop HC.

PHPV (Persistent Hyperplastic Primary Vitreous)
PHPV: The inheritance mode for this condition is not so clear. PHPV is a congenital condition, that is to say it is present at birth. It is known not to be progressive. If a puppy is born with PHPV then this would be detectable by ophthalmic screening from around 6 weeks of age, if found to be affected whatever the condition of the problem at that stage will not change throughout the dogs life. It is important that dogs are screened and are “Eye Clear” certified before they are bred from.

Sire:
………………………………………………………..Is PHPV - examined through an eye examination, is “Eye Clear” certified.
Dam:
……………………………………………………. Is PHPV - examined through an eye examination, is “Eye Clear” certified.
This means they have both been found to be Unaffected.

Other Disorders.
All our dogs have an annual health check with our Veterinarian to ensure they are healthy and we have undertaken to do all testing to identify the status of our dogs as per the recommendations of the Staffordshire Bull Terrier Breed Council. Apart from genetic disorders that we have previously outlined, being L2-HGA and HC, we cannot guarantee that your pup will not be affected by something unexpected, whether it be genetic or contracted from the environment. However we are prepared to stand behind what we breed and in the pages that follow, we have outlined in detail what we are prepared to do for you should the worst happen and your pup does not turn out to be the happy, healthy bundle of joy we were both expecting for you.
Please Note: because of their solid foundation of good health, good food and lack of exposure, it is highly unlikely a Janikastco Staffordshire Bull Terrier will contract a contagious disease. It is recommended that the buyer use common sense and not expose the puppy to other puppies, unless you are absolutely certain that all puppies in the group have been vaccinated, take it to places a sick puppy has been within the past 6 months or take it to public places, until the puppy series of vaccinations has been completed.

It is our goal to breed you a puppy that has breed type. This is a dog, when fully grown that looks like what you would expect a Staffordshire Bull Terrier to look like. However, there is no such thing as a perfect dog. Sometimes the most ordinary puppies can grow into amazing specimens of the breed and vice versa. Even the most celebrated show winning, impressive looking Stud dog will have faults. Mother Nature is a very fickle thing, as any breeder will tell you, and pups change enormously as they grow.

Kennel Club Paperwork.

As stated previously, you will receive a breeder’s registration certificate with your puppy. This breeder’s registration certificate will be in our name as the breeder's and will have our signature on the back, giving you permission to transfer your puppies’ paperwork into your own name. The cost of this is £12.00 and will be the responsibility of the buyer to complete. This will then convert into an owner’s registration certificate. It is important to organise for the paperwork to be transferred into your own name, as this is proof of ownership of your puppy. Along with photographs it proves that the puppy actually belongs to you.
On the paperwork we are hoping to be able to organise to have the health screening results, your puppies will have by birth to clear parents recorded on this certificate as well.

You will notice that the owner registration certificate will have endorsements on it. These endorsements are put on to the paperwork to protect the integrity of the lines and ensure that only the finest quality dogs are used for breeding.

We wish you every success with your puppy and know we are only a phone call away, should you have any concerns. Please call us at the first sign of any queries you may have, don’t leave it, as most times there is a really simple answer to any problem.

I have read, understood and discussed with the breeder, the terms and conditions of this agreement.

Please make sure you have read this document thoroughly before signing as “we didn’t know” is not an acceptable excuse when asking for endorsements to be lifted.

Signed:
Breeder
